What’s Hot

  • Fans of Kurosawa are sure to be hit with a whiff of fresh air in terms of casting & context as he deviates from the Japanese setup he is known for, with this brilliant Russian film that won the Academy award in the Foreign Language film category in 1976.
  • The nobility & good ways depicted by the film’s prime characters coming from different walks of life win the hearts of the viewers immensely & make us appreciate the fact that some nice qualities & bonding in humans are beyond geographical and ethnical boundaries.
  • Maksin Munzuk & Yuriy Solomin – The actors who play Dersu Uzala & Captain Arseniev are remarkable with their performances in showing the unshakable bond that gets created in the film’s course in the best possible way. The climax is very powerful & emotional.
  • The locations & sequences are ones you would crave to be in on an adventure trip and the typical wrath of forests portrayed in this forest travelogue show what those abodes of nature can be like when viewed from inside!

The film vividly captures the contrasting nature of forests - its superficial beauty & the dangerous powers seen as one goes deep inside and connects that beautifully with how humans based in contrasting setups can still share a deep-rooted bonding.
